Last days in Vancouver

Dear friends and family,

today we are leaving Vancouver, on the way to Kamloops. We hope to pick up some work in a Ginseng Farm.
The last days have been overexciting. We found a place to stay in Sun Peaks over the winter, collected our first furniture, saw the Vancouver CANUCKS playing, we celebrated Thanksgiving and volunteered at the Turkey Trot Run on Monday.
With Dave at the CANUCKS! We had a wonderful evening!

Meg organized some tickets for the game Canucks - Los Angeles and Dave took us to the game. It were not just normal tickets, but we stayed as VIP's in a box! Amazing!! Courtenay, you Aunt Meg and Uncle Dave are insane! What they have all done for us, amazing!

Volunteering at the Turkey Trot run

After the Volunteering we enjoyed Granville Island and went around with the aqua bus.

We just showed you a couple of pictures to enjoy.....:-)

First Roadtrip Fraser Valley - Kamloops - Okanagan Valley - Similkameen Valley

Hello all together!
we used the beautiful weather of the last week and made our first roadtrip (6 days). First destination was Kamloops were we visited Laurie and David Royce. From Vancouver Hwy 1, on the Coquihalla Hwy, through Merrit. Kamloops we stayed the weekend and Laurie and David took us to Sun Peaks Resort, were we will be working this winter! Sun peaks is the 2nd biggest ski resort of British Colombia and known of Nancy Greene.
Gold and Silver medal Nancy Greene

Nancy Greene was Canada's top ski racer through the 1960's, winning gold and silver medals at the 1968 Grenoble Olympics.

We will get our contracts sended on Monday. Norman will be doing the Laundry for the Sun Peaks Lodge and Angie will be dishwasher and prep-cook. Mornings we have time to explore the skifields.

Sockeye Salmon, how many do you count?
From Kamloops our travel went on to the Adams Lake were every 4th year the Sockeye Run takes place. The ritual of Sockeye salmon returning to the waters of the Adams River has been occuring since the Ice age.The Salmon swimms from the Pacific Ocean to their spawning grounds (were they were born) over 405 km (29 a day) and die after laying eggs and fertilization. During their trip they turning into a deep red colour, which is characteristic for their fertility.

An amazing natural spectacle!

Next stop was Kelowna, this picture is taken from Knox Mountain were you have a beautiful view over the city and Okanagan Lake. Kelowna and the Okanagan Valley is famous of its surrounding fruit and vegetables orchards and the many wineries. Beginning October the annual wine festival takes place, so unfortunately we came a bit to early.
Back to Vancouver we passed the Similkameen Valley, from Penticton to Keremeos,Princeton and Hope. Highway #3 also showed us a spectacular scenery.Nothing compared to european traffic....:-)

Unfortunately we already bought our car.....you find used cars everywere like sand on the beach. This is how some Canadian keep their collection!

And then finally before we arrived back in Vancouver Norman met his friends.........Alvin, Simon, Theodor...we are the chipmunks!

Thanks for all your nice comments, we enjoy them a lot!
